General Responsibilities/Role Overview:
The Project Engineer is a customer facing role, working closely with the sales and marketing functions to evaluate and provide technical knowledge in support of business growth opportunities.  The incumbent conducts technical assessments of customer inquiries and is responsible for management of the front-end estimating process, leveraging technical resources at each contract molding facility.  The role requires a knowledge of the Bemis global fleet of presses, as well as primary and secondary processing competencies for each site.  The Project Engineer will rely on their tooling and manufacturing experience to assess initial feasibility and make recommendations early in the design cycle.

Specific Responsibilities:
*Travel with Sales Managers on sales opportunities
*Provide leadership on part design and material selection with the customer
*Manage incoming RFQ’s, developing quotes for new products, utilizing CAD/Mold Flow Software
*Track quotation delivery performance and conversion rate
*Conduct initial feasibility/ DFMA analysis
*Manage multiple projects simultaneously
*Provide insight into the evolution of customer needs
*Other duties as assigned

 

Skills & Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Polymer Science or equivalent experience
*3-5 years’ experience in plastic injection molding – focused on Engineering and/or Tooling
*Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%
*Estimating experience a plus
*Customer facing experience preferred
*Project management
*Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
*40+ hours per week.
*Indoor, office and plant manufacturing work environment.
*Plant manufacturing may experience warm temperatures.
*Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
*Minimal lifting, up to 50 lbs. Bending, reaching, standing, walking.
*Plant manufacturing work environment requires PPE of safety toe shoes, protective eye wear, and hearing protection.
*Other plant manufacturing task may require additional PPE.
